i need a podium. i really, really need a podium. big push from here to the end, but having to work within my part wear. my engine should finish close to 100% and usually it’s off slightly down (1%-2%). so i think it will make it or very close to the end of the race. i don’t like to go three stops as i don’t always trust my pit crew to be quick, but i also do not want to get stuck behind drivers. even on an easy-to-overtake course, at Pro or higher it’s possible.

i’m really frustrated with my driver the last three races. he went from being very good in Qs to being average in spite of being near the top of group and fully rested up. times have been getting worse and worse compared to the rest. still hopeful for points and preferably a podium.

i really wanted to test, but couldn’t justify the part wear prior to this race. i’ll have several parts to replace after the race (engine may smoke in the final laps). pushing for points and my driver is very good in the rain. going with a 1 stop (short on the front, long on the back). easy to overtake and hoping for an all rain race. nearly messed up and originally set it as a 2 stopper. i shouldn’t do this before i’m fully awake. :-/

i took a huge gamble and went with Bad Year for tyres. that’s a lot of money per race. but i wanted to take the risk in part because i’ve never been on these tyres before and the value of both dry and wet seemed worth it – ALSO Rico and Frank both excelled on them. if i end up back in AM next season because it was a bad financial decision, then i’ll just regroup and move forward. in regards to regrouping, i picked up a driver that i think is quality and ended up mistakenly training him before extending him. guess who’s OA went over the extension requirements. that’s right, MINE. so part of me is hoping for some struggle so his motivation will drop as well as his OA so i can extend him. but i’m not going to sabotage any races for that to happen. it either happens on it’s own or i find a new driver next season regardless of the GPRO level i will find myself in. here’s to the s78 challenges!!

new driver for this one race. purposefully chose one with high talent. couldn’t find one with both talent and concentration (was outbid). while many are doing a planned out smoke race, my car is in good enough shape to challenge for points. it all comes down to this driver and whether he is good enough to drive this car across the finish line. avoiding trouble and keeping OT risk at 0 to help minimize chances for an accident at the start or driver mistakes during the race.
